e-Silkroad - Toward an Asian Boulevard of the 21st Century

The e-Silkroad concept envisions innovative, creative model IT cities in the21st century by connecting Asian cities where the IT revolution rapidly progresses, and by collaborating through IT-centered business and cultural exchanges.

We named the aforementioned exchanges and collaboration "e-Silkroad" after the ancient Silk Road, a network of roads for commerce connecting Asia and Europe, which changed history and brought about social development as it carried people, goods and information.

To realize this e-Silkroad concept, the Executive Committee for e-Silkroad in Sapporo was established in April 2001, centering on IT-related people in Sapporo and South Korea.

It was decided that the "e-Silkroad in Sapporo"event will be held to "build e-Silkroad in Asia," "reinforce the collaboration of IT companies in Asia" and to "create networks of people who play a central role in the Asian IT industry."Connecting Sapporo, renowned for Sapporo Valley, Seoul, Taejon (South Korea), Shenyang, Hong Kong, Shengzheng, Shanghai, Sinchiku (Taiwan), Singapore, Bangalore (India) and other cities where the IT industry is reinvigorating the region, this event aims to promote collaboration in the fields of technology, capital and human resources by forming human and information networks.

We believe that the formation of "global regions" through the collaboration of Asian cities will bring about new dynamism in the Asian economy and society. This will not lead to superficial friendly exchanges, but will establish substantial business collaboration, build trustworthy human networks, enable new exploration and create frontiers of the 21st century. On the horizon of the e-Silkroad is an Asian Boulevard of the 21st century.
