July 19 (Fri.) The e-Silkroad 2002 Sapporo Innovation City Seminar” was held by about 300 persons' participation. e-Silkroad in Sapporo Executive Committee (Honorable Chairman: KATSURA Nobuo, Mayor of Sapporo, Chairman: AOKI Yoshinao, Professor of Hokkaido University, Secretariat: City of Sapporo, Sapporo Electronics and Industries Cultivation Foundation, and Asia Vision Group) was held e-Silkroad 2002 Sapporo Innovation City Seminar as a 2002 project of the e-Silkroad concept from 13:00 on July 19, 2002 in the DoCoMo hall (14-chome, Kita 1jo-nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo-shi DoCoMo Hokkaido building atrium 1F) by about 300 persons' participation. At the seminar hall, has a greeting of Nobuo KATSURA, Mayor of Sapporo and Professor Yoshinao Aoki Hokkaido University and the keynote lecture by the professor of ZHAO, Nanyuan of China Qinghua University and the professor of Korea information communication university KANG, Minho was performed. Moreover, many engineers applied to a speech & panel discussion by the main members of IETF(*) which is present in the center of the Internet technology in the worlds including Prof. CHON Kil-Nam of KAIST.At the workshop hall, it discussed hotly how Sapporo would be designed as an innovative city model by IT. *IETF The Internet Engineering Task Force/The organization which is performing practical activity which determines the Internet Protocol which is an international standard under the Internet society The e-Silkroad concept envisions innovative, creative model IT cities in the 21st century by connecting Asian cities where the IT revolution is rapidly progressing, and by collaborating through IT-centered business and cultural exchanges. Last year, with approximately 4,000 visitors, e-Silkroad in Sapporo Convention had several positive results as a base for exchange between IT-related people and businesses in Asia centering on Korea and Japan. This seminar held as an enterprise in Sapporo-city is planned towards IT city cooperation of Asia, and development of human network formation for the further promotion and evolution of e-Silkroad conception, and going to advance the vision of e- Silkroad conception more. e-Silkroad in Sapporo Executive Committee (Honorable Chairman: KATSURA Nobuo, Mayor of Sapporo, Chairman: AOKI Yoshinao, Professor of Hokkaido University, Secretariat: City of Sapporo, Sapporo Electronics and Industries Cultivation Foundation, and Asia Vision Group) has decided to hold [ e-Silkroad 2002 Sapporo Innovation City Seminar ] as a 2002 project of the e-Silkroad concept. The e-Silkroad concept envisions innovative, creative model IT cities in the 21st century by connecting Asian cities where the IT revolution is rapidly progressing, and by collaborating through IT-centered business and cultural exchanges. The Executive Committee will make every effort this year, too, in order to continuously and actively promote this concept. The "e-Silkroad in Sapporo Convention" (a sponsorship of e-Silkroad in Sapporo executive committee), which aimed at the cooperation of IT companies of Asia or IT cities, was held at the Sapporo Park Hotel (3-chome, Minami 10jo-nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo-shi) 3F Park Hole from September 4 to 5.

Business in Asia and the cooperation of talented people centering on IT will be advanced based on the cooperation of the IT advanced cities in each country. The new Silk Road in the 21st century will be produced as this convention via the Silk Road carries man, monochrome, and information and the new value covering economy and culture is induced. In change of the cold war structure and divided by the North South problem the big time from Asia in the 20th century, it is a focus in the 21st century which attracts attention as a vision of the new Asia cooperation. The convention opened by the cutting of the ribbon for celebration by Professor Yoshinao Aoki of Hokkaido University Graduate School of Engineering and Mr. Simon of the Asia Vision Vice-President, Mayor Nobuo Katsura of Sapporo-city who is the head of the creditable committee, and the executive committee chief on September 4. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Science Cooperation Section Head, Hisashi Michigami, was a keynote lecturer with the theme of "IT and the frontier of Asian cooperation-Japan." The theme at the beginning of the session on the 4th was first about "being <part I> a dynamic network AJIA from e-Silkroad IT Asia summit and the exchange between cities." Then, there was a city presentation from the vice-mayor and government persons concerned of each representative country, such as from South Korea, Daejeon-city, Shenyang of China, Shengxheng of China, Bangladesh, India, and, finally Fukusako Syoichiro of Sapporo-shi assistant official was greeted. Moreover, from the afternoon, the session by each city university researcher was performed during part II after Director Yoshihiro Taya of Sony EMCS Inc. corporate officer managing director's guest speech. Then, IT Japan session which assembled the Japan-South Korea woman enterpriser, the venture supporting group of Japanese every place, etc., and the broadband technology session which introduces an optical network solution were developed. Next 5th were held in the two halls. There were colorful themes from a mobile session and a broadcloth band home session, a YUBIKITASU session, an investment session, a digital movie session, e Silk Road contents archive session, and amusement session technology to contents. A total of seven sessions were held. There were a total of 43 colorful lecturers, such as a lecturer who played an active part in various places, such as in the spotlight of IT lecturers of rich internationality, or a lecturer invited from the city persons concerned from each country, a researcher, or a South Korean or Japanese guest and those on the front line of business. Moreover, the seminar participants in two days amounted to 1500 persons. Moreover, over these two days, by the broadcloth band online network game, the pro gamer appeared in two places, this Hall and the Big Camera. Also was performed fighting-game-demonstration by the No.1 South Korean pro gamer on stage. At the Big Camera Hall on the 4th, a Japanese pro gamer waged war a general participant, etc. with a participation of about 150 spectators. The outline on September 4-5 "an e-Silkroad in Sapporo Asia IT convention" is decided. A colorful seminar session is held. Perhaps there were more than 100 companies of exhibition domestically and from other Asian information companies.

The "e-Silkroad in Sapporo Asia IT convention," which aims at the cooperation of IT companies of Asia or IT cities was held at the Hall of Sapporo Park Hotel (3-chome, Minami 10jo-nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo-shi) 3F Park Hole from September 4 to 5. With IT persons involved in South Korea, IT staffs from Sapporo-shi, the Sapporo Economic Affairs Bureau, the Sapporo electronics center, and the e-Silkroad in Sapporo executive committee had Professor Yoshinao Aoki of Hokkaido University Graduate School as the executive committee chief, the KATURA Nobuo Sapporo mayor as the head of the creditable committee, and the Sapporo electronics center as the secretariat. About 300 Japan-South Korea IT staffs were assembled, and the kickoff seminar was already decorated with the opening of "e-Silkroad in Sapporo" was held on June 20 at the Hokkaido University Scientific Exchange Hall, attracting the attention as the main event. About 100 information communication related companies domestic, from Sapporo and from other parts of Asia, displayed the contents of a convention, advanced business cooperation and exchange and aimed at construction of a tough human network while they performed the exhibition and presentation by the newest technical theme which cultivates a broadcloth band time. The exhibition application from Asian countries centering on South Korea or domestic areas continues to grow to present and is finally likely to exceed 110 companies. "e-Silkroad in Sapporo" kickoff seminar is carried out. An e-Silkroad Sapporo declaration, which appeals to the cooperation of IT industries in Asia, is issued.

The kickoff seminar with which the opening of "e-Silkroad in Sapporo" is decorated, assembled about 300 Japan-South Korea IT staffs in the Hokkaido University Scientific Exchange Hall. It was held on Wednesday, June 20. At the seminar which started at 1:00 p.m. after the greeting of Mayor KATURA Nobuo Sapporo-city, Kim YUNCHON of South Korean Diet member, and Professor Yoshinao Aoki of Hokkaido University. Professor AOKI made an opening speech entitled "aiming at the birthplace of the new culture woven with an "e-Silkroad-e-silk” presenting the commemoration lecture. Moreover, Professor CHON Kilnam of a South Korean KAIST also called the father of the South Korean Internet from the South Korea gave a commemoration lecture entitled "e-Silkroad and Broadband City-Perspective from the Internet." After the Satake Hiroo of the Itochu Techno-Science Inc., the chairman of the board of directors, and the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation, Inc. representative managing director, Shunzo Morishita, performed problem institutions, respectively. "The 21st century of change which begins from e-Silkroad" made Professor Aoki into the coordinator, the South Korea side members and IT corporate management persons of Sapporo also joined, and a panel discussion was performed. (Panel-discussion participant passage is on an attached sheet) In discussion, IT persons involved in Asia including Japan and South Korea cooperate. IT competitive power of Asia is strengthened. It has a discussion for what IT society should be made in Asia in the 21st century. The "e-Silk Road Sapporo declaration" that new value would finally be created by cooperation of IT persons involved in Asia was emitted. About ten persons participated in this seminar from South Korea. South Korean mass communications also visited to cover the story and told of the cooperation of Sapporo valley and the South Korean IT industry. At the party after the seminar ended, a sight of Japan-South Korea IT staffs having a pleasant talk. Moreover, the pattern of a seminar was broadcast to the whole world through the Internet on that day. The 40 inch plasma display, which the Hokkaido University large-sized computer center took charge of this broadcast, used the gigabit class network "a HINES integrated media service base system" of Hokkaido University and was installed within 15 enclosures of Hokkaido University -- leading -- real time -- network broadcast. Furthermore, real-time broadcast was carried out through the Internet to the whole world.
