Prior to the "e-Silkroad in Sapporo" convention
(to be held on September 4 and 5), the "Kickoff Seminar,"
a preliminary seminar, was held at the Hokkaido University Academic
Conference Hall on June 20 to construct IT exchange networks between
Sapporo and other Asian regions. With the participation of about 300
people, including those from IT-related companies, Yoshinao Aoki, Chairman
of the Executive Committee for the e-Silkroad in Sapporo and a professor
at Hokkaido University, delivered a lecture and explained "new
culture that capitalizes on IT by orchestrating knowledge and technologies
in Asia" and the significance of the e-Silkroad that was named
after the Silk Road of ancient times. During the panel discussions,
Kazunori Asada, President and CEO of Open Loop Inc., an IT venture company
in Sapporo, and Simon Goal, the representative of a South Korean IT
company that established a joint venture in Sapporo with Open Loop,
emphasized that "the human relationship of mutual trust also serves
as the foundation of business cooperation in the IT field." In
preparation for the convention, the "Declaration of e-Silkroad
in Sapporo" was adopted, calling for "Asian IT personnel to
develop a reformative and creative generation." |
